SONGKET TRADISI Art Shop & Gallery

SONGKET TRADISI
Tradisi Range of Fabric
Tradisi is a colorful range of hand woven, cotton fabric from the Nusa Tenggara chain of island. The ladies from one small village weave these designs exclusively and have done so for generations. Each piece of material is unique and although their style is obvious throughout the range there are no two pieces the same.
The fabric is woven on the traditional looms they have been using for many years. Quality is of great importance to the weavers and much time is taken to ensure every piece is of the highest standard. The material can be woven to various weights thickness as required.
One cloth takes one weaver three until six weeks to complete a more intricate design. The traditional process give the fabric its exclusively quality.
Each cloth is 60cm x 450cm, (multiples available). The fabric can be made smaller, but their traditional looms do not allow larger pieces. As the fabric is of a geometric design a seam can be easily disguised. We can supply pre-sewn to size if required.
All colors are fast with no leakages. The fabric should be dry cleaned or hand washed.
Here also we organize local cooperation to help the weavers. So when the product has already finished, the weavers may collect the equal to the cooperation. And when its have been to sell, the money we give to them again.
